A pond in Lancing is the place to be on August 7 for the annual Adur fishing day.

The popular event is free and open to anyone interested in fishing. Everyone from complete beginners to professional anglers is welcome.

Trevor Passmore, owner of Passies Pond, has teamed up with Adur District Council's leisure development team, which will provide free bait, licences and coaching to an expected 120 anglers.

There is also a limited supply of rods available for people who don't have their own.

Adur councillor Dave Ashley said: "What a great way to spend a morning. Sitting by a pond, fishing. Perfect."

Passies Pond is on the Coombes Road, Lancing, and provides an excellent setting with beautiful surroundings, tackle shop and burger bar.

The event will run from 10am to 2pm. For more details and to book your place, call the Adur leisure development team on 01273 263044.
