What planet is Brighton and Hove City Council's "transport" spokesman Simon Battle living on?
He is right, there is never a good time to undertake major roadworks - especially ones that are completely pointless and are a waste of our money.
What possible "improvements" can you need to make to the Preston Drove/A23 junction?
Perhaps the "improvements" are like the ones at Palmeira Square or the bottom of Elm Grove which have resulted in the removal of lanes, causing more gridlock and tailbacks at peak times?
Or reducing the lower part of Church Street to one lane, making the road impassable because of cars waiting to get into the car park?
These are exactly the sort of improvements which Brighton and Hove can do without.
Unfortunately, the council treats the road system as some sort of giant taxpayer-funded lego set, which it can pay consultants huge amounts to play about with.
All this is done without any regard for those who have to run businesses, work or live in the city.
