Albion have signed Chelsea striker Leon Knight for two months on loan.
Knight, 20, is set to make his debut in the pre-season friendly at Barnet on Saturday.
The east Londoner has tasted UEFA Cup action with the Blues, but has not played in the Premiership.
He has played for England under-20s and England Youth.
Seagulls boss Steve Coppell said: "I'm pleased to sign somebody of his pedigree. He had a dormant year last year but is now determined to impose himself.
"I'm delighted that he will be looking to do that with Brighton."
Knight, who is just 5ft.4in tall, has found it difficult to break into the first team at Stamford Bridge where a host of big names are ahead of him in the pecking order.
He has had successful loan spells with QPR, Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday.
He made his league debut for Rangers in October, 2001, before joining Huddersfield the same season when he scored 17 goals in 33 league and FA Cup matches for them.
Knight scored three goals in 14 starts for Albion's doomed relegation rivals Wednesday last season.
