During the war a number of factories engaged in war work. Factories such as Allen West and the Zylo works immediately spring to mind.

I am looking for information about a small garage in Bristol Road, near the junction with Bedford Street.

Can anyone tell me what work was done at those premises?

One of the most unusual places where war work was carried out was the Marks & Spencer store, roughly next to where Sainsbury's branch now stands, on London Road.

I believe aircraft parts were assembled there, possibly for the Mosquito plane.
