At last Brighton and Hove City Council is going to do something about the drunks.
Norfolk Square has become a haven for drunks and drug addicts who seem to have total immunity from the police.
My sympathies lie with the residents of the square who have had to put up with this situation for many years while the council turns a blind eye and the police are an endangered species.
With the warm weather recently, the situation has become unbearable with drunks urinating in full view of people passing by and shouting abuse at anyone who takes their fancy.
The square has become a no-go area and is particularly intimidating for women.
Unfortunately, the majority of them need professional help rather than being pushed on to another area to cause the same problems.
I have called the police on three occasions in as many weeks relating to drinking in the area and they implied it was not their problem and all their patrol cars were busy.
Dialling the local 0845 number for the police is a waste of time as you are normally redirected to an answer machine and nothing comes of your complaint.
