We now have the prospect of Labour and Green councillors joining together to support the 38-storey crooked towers for the King Alfred site.
This no doubt is the culmination of many meetings and manoeuvrings over the past few months which have removed alternative projects and ensured official council support will go to the Karis towers.
This whole process has made a nonsense of the council's own planning policies and procedures.
In February we were told the council was postponing consideration of all proposals for tall buildings to enable it to implement a study of the impact of tall buildings in Brighton and Hove.
Consultants were appointed and last week the first meeting was held to hear the views of selected groups.
It was stated at the meeting one option could be to recommend no tall buildings be built as it would be possible to meet government requirements by using high density medium and low rise buildings.
The consultants are not a local firm so meetings with local groups should be an essential part of the study.
