Mark Ramprakash dug Surrey out of a hole in the top-of-the-table Championship clash against Sussex to convince both coaches that he could still have an England future.
Ramprakash dug in for a 211 ball 104 as Surrey recovered from 126-6 to make 355 and concede a first innings lead of only 74. Sussex had reached 69-2, an overall lead of 134, when bad light set in to wipe out the last 37 overs of the third day.
Sussex's Director of Cricket Peter Moores said: "In the circumstances it was a quality innings, but everyone knows what a quality player Ramps is and he's shown it again."
It was the 33-year-old's sixth hundred against Sussex and left Surrey coach Keith Medlycott in no doubt that the former Middlesex batsman ought to be considered by England should they decide they need re-enforcements in their middle order.
He added: "He is a high-quality player, and anybody who watched this innings would acknowledge he is someone with the class to play at the top level."
SUSSEX will do a roll call of their walking wounded before naming the side to face Scotland in the National League at Hove tomorrow (1pm).
Jason Lewry and Kevin Innes are definitely out while Tim Ambrose is still struggling with a knee strain.
