Chris Eubank may be famous for his boxing exploits but it seems the blows he took may have affected his memory.
The Argus told on Saturday how the Hove celebrity had been stopped by two policemen while driving his open-topped jeep in Old Shoreham Road, Brighton, because - according to his spokeswoman - they wanted his autograph.
Now the police have said that Chris was stopped by two members of the Neighbourhood Policing Team for not wearing a seatbelt and was issued with a £30 fixed penalty notice, which he accepted.
Chief Inspector Peter Mills, who had promised an investigation into the incident, said Chris's signature on the fixed penalty notice "was the only autograph the officers wanted from him".
The ex-boxer had 28 days from midnight last Thursday, the day of the incident, to pay.
Chris Burt, of Shoreham police, asks us to point out the two officers were not members of the traffic division, as we said, because that no longer exists and has been replaced by the road policing department. They were not involved.
