Councillor Bill Randall's wish list (Letters, July 30) plays a game with Labour which could tie up the King Alfred development for years.
The Lib-Dems and Conservatives agreed this was a decision of immense gravity.
Councillor Peltzer Dunn made it clear a decision was expected on inadequate information. The Greens were happy to proceed on trust.
This decision has consequences nobody has clearly identified. We have a shortage of dentists and GPs and an eight-hour wait at A&E over in Brighton at our pressurised, one-star hospital. How will the needs of thousands of new residents be catered for? How many more cars will be on the streets?
Councillor Brian Oxley attempted to get the decision moved from the small, elite committee to full council for decision by all councillors.
Green Councillor Keith Taylor vetoed this because it would mean losing. The Greens could have abstained but backed Labour and the tall-buildings strategy seems now to have been imposed.
This decision should be called in for attention by the scrutiny committee.
Coun Randall rightly speaks of "genuine public consultation and participation". The Hove Residents Group calls for a public meeting on this scheme.
