The Pelham Arms in Lewes, said by Mr Andrews to have been established circa 164 (Letters, August 7), is not the oldest building in Lewes.
I recall a wooden hut with LBC written on the side.
L is the Latin numeral for 50, so it pre-dated the Pelham Arms by more than 200 years.
