Fund-raisers wore fancy dress and got in wheelchairs to raise money and awareness of a charity for the disabled.
A total of 18 people took part in the Worthing Shopmobility annual wheelathon at Splash Point, Worthing promenade, on Sunday.
Worthing Mayor James Doyle and his wife Mel met the runners and riders before starting the event and walking some of the distance from Splash Point to George V Avenue and back.
He then joined organisers for a drink at Shopmobility in Shelley Road, Worthing, at the end of the day.
Lions Club president Tony Richardson and Lion Tony Holley, who were in fancy dress, offered the mayoress a lift halfway round the course.
Organisers expect to top last year's £1,000 mark.
A spokesman for Worthing Shopmobility said: "The total amount of funds raised will not be known until after the collection of money from people sponsoring the participants.
"A small amount was also collected from well-wishers on the way."
Proceeds will go toward the charity's work making life easier for disabled people to go shopping in Worthing or visit the Downs by providing buggies and other facilities.
