People in Eastbourne are rightly angered at plans to close one of the town's main post offices.
The Upperton Road branch is facing closure in November because of spiralling losses amounting to £65,000 a year.
Up and down the country post offices are shutting up, having a huge impact on businesses and residents who rely heavily on their services.
Such losses to a company already facing dire financial straits may give good reason to shut what is a lifeline to many people.
But the manner in which it has been carried out by the Post Office leaves plenty of room for explanation from managers.
To give just four weeks notice to its customers, leaving scant time to voice any opposition, has left some people with the opinion that the company is acting unprofessionally.
Let us hope a happy medium can be found and that the impact on residents and businesses people is not too harshly felt.
