A choir from Worthing is to take part in the world's biggest simultaneous singing fund-raising event.
The Worthing Philharmonic Choir will join thousands of people from across the globe for the Voices for Hospices 2003 - Hospices in Harmony concert.
The Worthing event, in Worthing Baptist Church, Christchurch Road, on October 4, starts at 7.30pm and is timed to coincide with a vast "Mexican wave" of voices around the world, dedicated to increasing awareness of the work that hospices and palliative care units undertake and raising urgently needed funds to ensure that work continues.
It will be the fifth world-wide event since 1991.
In 2000, more than 200,000 people took part, raising £1 million for hospices in 43 countries.
2003 is the first year the Worthing choir has participated.
Choir chairwoman Rosemary Brutford said: "The concert will be a performance of Haydn's The Creation and we look forward to being able to present St Barnabas Hospice with a really generous cheque at the end of the evening."
Tickets are already available, at £8 reserved and £5 unreserved, from Kim's Bookshop, Crescent Road, Worthing, Optimus Bookshop, Ann Street, Worthing, or by phoning Brenda Upstone on 01903 242813.
