Substitute Ryan McBride inspired Whitehawk to their first win of the season in Matthew Clark County League division one.
McBride, signed on the eve of the season from Lewes, scored two penalties and set up a goal for Tommy Pattenden as the Hawks enjoyed a flattering 4-0 win at home to Ringmer.
Hawks boss said: "The scoreline flattered us. If we had come off having lost 2-0 I wouldn't have complained.
"When you play badly and win though you have to be pleased. When we went to Sidlesham (last Friday) we had no passion. Hopefully this will get our season going."
Toby Phillips put Hawks ahead with a deflected effort before Ringmer's Dominic Shepherd saw a penalty saved by home keeper Matt Ades.
McBride's double from the spot sandwiched Pattenden's strike.
Simon Fox scored his second goal in as many games as Rye and Iden United won 1-0 at Hailsham Town.
Late goals from Andy Alexander and Simon Funnell gave Three Bridges a 2-0 win at home to East Grinstead.
Jack Dineen netted for the second game running as Southwick beat Hassocks 2-0.
Horsham YMCA won 2-0 at home to Redhill thanks to late goals from Joel O'Hara and Dean Carden, while Arundel beat Sidlesham 3-1 with Danny McLaughlin, Jason Wimbleton and Miles Scerri on target.
