Shoppers are being canvassed in the centre of Lancing by council recycling officers.
Adur District Council is asking residents what they think of its recycling service.
The Government has set recycling targets for all councils in the UK and Adur needs to double its present rate to 33 per cent.
To help meet the targets, the council is returning to weekly blue box collections on September 1.
As well as weekly collections, other initiatives are being introduced, including smaller boxes for elderly people and an extra blue box for those who recycle more.
Two weeks ago, the new recycling and refuse calendar leaflet was delivered to every home in the district.
Community services chairman Paul Graysmark said: "We are proud of our reputation in recycling and want to provide an even better service.
"Knowing what residents think can only help us do this."
