Police are hunting a graffiti vandal who signs himself "Dreads" and left his mark all over the former headquarters of Hove Ruby Club.
Huge silver and black tags - the graffiti writers' stylised signatures - are clearly visible across Hove Park from Shirley Drive.
The building has been empty since the rugby club moved to its new base in Hove recreation ground last year.
Sergeant Richard Delacour said: "The old building has been sprayed before but nowhere near as badly as this.
"In the past, it has been possible to clean it off but the extent of the graffiti this time will be a much more difficult problem to solve.
"We are appealing for anyone who saw this happen on Monday to get in touch with us. We also want to hear from anyone who knows who is responsible for the Dreads tag."
Anyone with information should phone Sgt Delacour at Hove police station on 0845 6070999.
