In answer to Mrs Emily Bartlett (Letters, August 20) about the ball park area on Downland Court and Councillor Bob Carden's part in it, the facts are as follows:
Mrs Bartlett and all the tenants in flats nearest to the park (as well as the private owners at that end of the court) were invited to a meeting in the community hall on Downland Court to address their worries.
But not one tenant, including Mrs Bartlett, bothered to turn up. The council officers, Coun Carden and members of the committee sat waiting for an hour.
When nobody came we felt it was right to carry on doing what the majority of tenants wanted. That is to give the children a safe place to play ball games, not in the road or kicking balls at windows.
As for the two evenings we had live music on the court, every tenant knew about it and was invited as part of the summer events the association raised money for.
Of course, we can't please everyone but we do try. That includes council officers and Coun Carden.
