More than 1,000 people are expected at a training event to help businesses get the most out of their staff.

Organised by Sussex Enterprise, People Mean Business will take place at The Brighton Dome on September 18.

It will include speakers, seminars, exhibitions and live theatre, all based on staff training and development.

The keynote speakers include alternative business guru Geoff Burch and David Smith, the Sussex Learning and Skills Council's director of operations.

Because of his love of riding huge motorbikes, the Sunday Times has described Mr Burch as "the hell's angel of management consultancy".

He is a renowned public speaker and author of books, including Resistance Is Useless - The Art Of Business Persuasion.

The CragRats theatre group will be performing throughout the day to demonstrate how to deal with workplace issues.

There will also be an exhibition showcasing local training companies.

Helena Freeman, of Sussex Enterprise, said: "This event is a must for anyone involved in managing training and development in the workplace.

"People are the most important asset for any business and it's vital they get the best training available to improve their skills and ultimately the performance of local businesses.

"People Means Business combines practical tips with entertainment covering all aspects of people management.

"We'll be running 12 half-hour training seminars throughout the day so people can choose which ones suit their needs.

"It will also be a great opportunity to make contact with other professionals and industry experts."

The free event runs from 9am to 5.30pm. For more information call 01444 416678 or visit www.sussexenterprise.co.uk/pmb
