Former Albion goalscoring hero Bobby Zamora was there in spirit as tributes were paid to a Sussex football fan killed in a storm in Australia.
A memorial service for 33-year-old Andrew Rimmer, from Hove, was held today by friends and former colleagues in Sydney.
The service featured recordings of the Albion anthem Sussex By The Sea and Brighton fans' Bobby Zamora tribute, to the tune of That's Amore.
Alex Kelsey, one of Mr Rimmer's best friends in Sydney, said: "My closeness to Andrew revolved around our love for sport and in particular Brighton and Hove Albion.
"He absolutely loved them and for this reason we wanted blue and white flowers everywhere."
Mr Rimmer, who took up Australian residency last autumn, was a keen sports fan and was on his way to watch a football match when he died.
The centre-forward for North Sydney Soccer Club was travelling in a car driven by his friend and team-mate Terry Champion.
They missed a turn-off and as 34-year-old Mr Champion reversed his car into a driveway, a large tree fell on the car.
Mr Rimmer, a former head boy at both Lancing College and Mowden School in Hove, was killed.
His parents Nicholas and Hazel Rimmer, of Shirley Drive, Hove, are planning a funeral service at St John the Baptist Church in Palmeira Square, Hove, next month.
