A crackdown on violent crime in public places is being launched in the Worthing area.
Officers in Worthing, Arun, Adur and Chichester are preparing to take part in Operation Resolve III.
The operation is aimed at reducing violent street crime and involves agencies from across the public sector coming together in a joint initiative.
It has been planned to run for six days, beginning on Monday, and will involve day and night strategies.
The daytime activities will include officers targeting known offenders of violent crime, with each policing district receiving CID support.
During the evening, identified crime hotspots will be targeted and patrolled by officers in high visibility clothing.
They will be supported by Police community support officers and members of the Special Constabulary.
A joint agency licensing team will be in operation, visiting licensed premises to ensure they are being run correctly.
Areas outside of the town will also be policed to provide reassurance to residents and businesses.
Worthing district commander Chief Inspector Russ Whitfield said: "This is a marvellous opportunity for Worthing district. It enables us to work proactively with our partners from other agencies with whom we have well-established links.
"The benefit to residents of Worthing will be a reduction in violent crime, making the town safer for all."
Worthing town centre sergeant Pete Darkin said: "We have achieved a great deal over the past six months since the instigation of the Town Centre Team.
"This type of operation keeps everyone focused on reducing violent crime and sends the right message to troublemakers that their behaviour won't be tolerated.
"We want to ensure visitors to Worthing have a good night out, without any problems."
