Why does this council lack the vision or expertise to address the falling rolls at East Brighton College of Media Arts (Comart)?
This will be the second time it has closed the school - the first time it was officially closed in the July and reopened with a new name the following September.
Headteachers have been appointed and after only a short while either left or retired.
The school, known to have difficulties, appointed a part-time headteacher and a multimillion pound building project for the school is currently underway.
Now the council has announced it is to close the school.
There is no announcement about what will happen to the students but obviously they will have to be transferred to other schools in the city, many of which are already oversubscribed.
So where is the strategy and vision for an area designated as an Education Action Zone?
There have been a number of reactionary decisions made about this school and the proposed second closure of the school is yet another.
While the city council spends millions of pounds seeking solutions for Comart, many of the city's schools are considering teacher redundancies because of a serious education funding crisis.
If this is the way the city council handles education in an action zone, what hope is there?
Perhaps it is time those in charge moved over and made way for others with leadership and vision.
