I read with horror the story about the worm infection of the police non-emergency system (The Argus, Sept 3).
Apparently, this was caught from an infected laptop belonging to one of the officers.
What systems and software do the police authorities have in place to prevent this? Obviously none at all.
The transmission of this virus from an infected laptop was highly preventable.
The police would seem to have failed at every step.
There was simply no excuse for this and I want explanations as to how this was allowed to happened this time, together with assurances and evidence that it will never happen again.
Instead of being interested in suing the instigator of this worm in the USA, I think the police's energies would be better spent on getting its own house in order - there will always be viruses.
They should be very ashamed.
