Sussex Second XI suffered their fourth defeat in the last five Championship games when going down by 69 runs to Warwickshire at Hastings.
Set a target of 329 in 85 overs, Sussex were bowled out for 259 with Ian Westwood taking 4-91.
Chris Grammar almost salvaged a draw for Sussex by hitting an unbeaten 69 off 124 balls with a dozen fours.
He and last man Shaun Rashid resisted for 37 minutes in adding 20 before Rashid was trapped for four with nine deliveries left.
Sussex fought a rearguard action after stumbling to 101-5. Debutant Nayan Doshi helped hold up Warwickshire by cracking 33 with seven fours.
