Drunks in Norfolk Square, Brighton, are causing misery for many people who live or work nearby.
They shout, swear, urinate and threaten passers-by and many people are terrified of them.
There is also no worse advertisement for a resort than for people to walk in the main shopping street and be confronted by a crowd of abusive drunks.
But there is another side. As our report shows today, some street drinkers feel they are in need of help.
The point is they can get it. In Brighton there are places where they can go to dry out and be helped back into normal life.
What's clear is that the current problems at Norfolk Square cannot be allowed to continue and the police have no intention of letting that happen.
They have had the power to take action under new powers to stop street drinking since early in August but decided to give the drinkers a month to put things right themselves.
It's clear each day in Norfolk Square that most of them haven't bothered and they will have to pay the consequences.
