A union leader has sparked controversy when he called on "fat cat" executives to "shut up or ship out" in an extraordinary attack on captains of industry.
Kevin Curran, recently elected leader of the GMB, said he was fed up with business leaders such as CBI director general Digby Jones complaining about red tape, the influence of trade unions or the difficulty firms had making profits in this country.
Mr Curran, speaking yesterday ahead of the TUC congress in Brighton, said: "My members are sick and tired of people like Digby Jones attacking British industry.
"Unfortunately, a lot of people in the top ranks of industry are non-performers. They should shut up or ship out - and the sooner they go the better."
