Derelict offices in a remote part of countryside are to be converted into holiday homes.
Lychpole Farm, which lies north-west of Beggar's Bush in Sompting, has applied to convert two traditional flint barn buildings after trying unsuccessfully for almost three years to let them as offices.
The buildings are in good condition and the conversion would involve relatively little change to their external appearance.
The plan has been backed by the Sussex Downsmen and Sussex Downs Conservation Board, which said: "The board considers holiday cottages would be particularly suitable for horse-based recreation in view of the accessibility to the bridleway passing through the farm."
However, the tenant farmer objected to the plan, saying the holiday homes would be dangerous to children because farm machinery used the road nearby.
The plan, which will be discussed by Adur District Council's planning committee on Monday, has been recommended for approval.
