World swimming champion Katy Sexton put youngsters through their paces at a pool in Littlehampton.
Katy trains in Portsmouth and has remained friends with Great Britain swimmer Lauren Short, who teaches at Littlehampton Swimming and Sports Centre in Sea Road. She was invited to the pool on Saturday.
Councillor Richard Wilby, of Arun District Council, said: "I am pleased Katy could come so soon after her recent success in Barcelona at the world championships.
"What is really nice is that Katy brought her gold and silver medals to show young swimmers what can be achieved with hard work and dedication."
Katy demonstrated her winning back crawl to members of the centre's swimming squad.
The centre has an enviable record of producing top-class swimmers.
Manager David Batchelor and swimming development officer Dave Candler are members of the Amateur Swimming Association's swimming action group.
The group, based at Sussex University, aims to select and promote swimmers who have potential by running swimming festivals and development camps.
