Andrei Kanchelskis will not be joining Albion after failing to agree personal terms.
The 34-year-old former Manchester United winger has been training with the Seagulls since the start of August and was offered a three-month contract, but Coppell confirmed today: "He won't be joining us.
"It has never really been an issue. He has trained with us to get fit and as far as I am concerned that was the prime motivation for the whole thing.
"At one stage there was a suggestion he might want to sign for us, but we knew right from day one we weren't on the same football pitch as regards finance."
Meanwhile, reserve team midfielder Dean Hammond is joining Conference club Aldershot on loan for a month.
