A controversial film-maker wants to shoot 24 hours of footage showing people dropping their trousers.

Nathan Bean, whose previous work has been banned by an art gallery, believes the way people undress can give insights into their character.

But he is prepared for people to be a little reluctant to strip in front of the camera and stressed it would all be anonymous.

Nathan, 27, from Storrington, said: "The clips are portraits of these people.

"Rather than showing their faces, they show their trousers coming down, which will give information about these people without actually seeing them.

"It's done anonymously so I'm hoping people will send videos in.

"Essentially, I wanted to show people in a different light from a normal portrait. For instance, you could show clips of people's desks at work.

"Some personality comes across with the way people carry out an act. If they are shy, they do not really move. If they are an exhibitionist, that comes across."

Nathan studied art in Southampton and at Northbrook College in Worthing before joining the Revolutionary Art Group (Rag) based in Worthing.

An example of his earlier work, depicting a woman grating a pig's heart, was banned from Worthing Museum and Art Gallery.

He has issued a series of instructions to people interested in starring in his film, entitled Portraits.

He said: "Start with a video camera, frame legs so knees are just out of shot yet feet are still in shot, film for about 20 seconds then pull down all lower clothing.

"After about 60 seconds, pull all clothes back up and walk off to your left. Record for a further 20 seconds before ending filming, making sure you do not re-enter the shot."

Rag's Dan Thompson said: "Nathan is so off the wall. He's really interested in pushing back the boundaries, which keeps us all fresh and invigorated."

The preview will be shown at arts club Roundabout in The Barn, Field Place, Worthing, on September 26.
