Politicians and academics all agree there is a shortage of skilled craftsmen in this country, especially in the construction industry.
So why not bring back the building school which operated so successfully in the Fifties and Sixties?
Go a bit further and make it a Brighton and Hove City Junior Technical School to incorporate other skilled trades for wider industry and I believe there would be a waiting list for entry.
Give this school a close link to Brighton University, which has an excellent record in this technical field, and make it a feeder school for local students.
Now, you may well ask, where?
The obvious answer is to turn East Brighton College of Media Arts (Comart) into this Brighton and Hove Junior Technical School.
There is an old saying - "third time lucky".
