I have been asked to write to you on behalf of the family of Stephane Aineto, the young Frenchman who was killed in a pedestrian area of Brighton in July 2001.
Stephane died after falling under the wheels of a SITA refuse collection truck just before the council removed them from the contract.
Stephane's family wish to thank The Argus for its coverage of the circumstances surrounding his death.
Without that coverage, some very important issues would not have been aired - because the authorities involved appear to have preferred to ignore some of the issues.
The family has learnt more about significant details of the incident from The Argus than from the council, police and health and safety executive combined.
The Aineto family's legal team have told me they could not have achieved their successful High Court challenge to the original verdict without some of the crucial information provided in The Argus reports and for that we owe you our sincere gratitude.
We await a date for the new inquest, since there are still many questions to be answered but we are confident the new inquest will have a chance to address these.
-Ron Trussell, South Chailey
