James Kirtley is out of Sussex's Championship decider against Leicestershire at Hove today.
He has failed to recover from the shin splints injury which has kept him out of action for the last three weeks so the county will be unchanged for the fourth successive game as they bid for an historical first title.
Six points against already relegated Leicestershire will do it and only Lancashire can stop them by picking up a maximum 22 points against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.
The next four days are bound to be tense but skipper Chris Adams believes his side will not slip up.
He said: "We were quite nervous up at Old Trafford last week when we could have won it. I'm sure the nerves will ease now we're back at Hove and on familiar territory.
"We've got a great record at home this season and if that doesn't give us confidence then nothing will.
"All season at Hove we've demoralised the opposition by playing aggressive, positive cricket. It has helped get us into the position we are in and there is no reason why we'll stop doing that now."
Leading run scorer Murray Goodwin, who scored his third hundred of the season against Lancashire, is ready to enjoy one of the highlights of his career.
"If we play good cricket we will win it and I would be so proud if that happened," he said.
Sussex: Montgomerie, Goodwin, Cottey, Adams, Ambrose, Martin-Jenkins, Prior, Davis, Mushtaq Ahmed, Lewry, Taylor.
