Dr Martens: Francis Vines is hoping his strikers do not go too crazy in their summit meeting with Nuneaton Borough tomorrow.
Although the Crawley Town boss wants to beat the premier division leaders, he would rather it is just by a single goal.
Victory by any bigger margin at the Broadfield Stadium would put the Reds on top of the table on goal difference if second-place Weymouth lose against Weston-Super-Mare.
That set of results may sound like the perfect scenario but a cautious Vines is keen to stay out of the spotlight. He said: "When you are on top of the table everybody tries to shoot you down so I'm hoping we don't peak too early.
"Don't get me wrong, I want to win the game but I'm not too worried about scoring enough goals to go top because that brings its own pressures.
"We've been there in the past and found it hard to cope with so I'm quite happy being nicely positioned in the chasing pack for the time being."
Vines knows all about the problems which come with doing well following Tuesday night's goalless draw at Broadfield Stadium with strugglers Chelmsford City.
The visitors frustrated the Reds by packing their defence.
Vines said: "They came for the point and we duly obliged in giving it to them.
"If they had come out to play we would have broken them down and scored but we just couldn't find any way through.
"We have got to learn our lesson from that so when teams come to defend we know what to do to get in behind them."
Leaders Nuneaton are unlikely to play for the draw after getting off to a flying start.
Vines is hoping to have a number of key players available again. Carl Wilson-Denis missed the draw with Chelmsford with a sore knee but should play while Justin Gregory, Charlie McDonald and Paul Armstrong are all due to be recalled.
Armstrong could come in to replace Peter Fear, who has been playing with a slight knock in the past few weeks, but Joff Vansittart is still unavailable.
