No one should be surprised that people drop mobile phones, rings and cameras off the Palace Pier in Brighton.

But it must have taken some time and effort to have dragged a washing machine to the end of the pier and to have pushed it into the sea.

Divers who are removing the rubbish are conducting a clean seas campaign but don't need the washing machine to help them.
