However, second half goals from Kevin Townsend and Dean Venton gave Hawks victory.

Pat Harding's late goal earned Hassocks a 3-3 draw at home to Rye and Iden United, while Jason Wimbledon struck twice as Arundel won 2-0 at Pagham.
Kris Trevor also bagged a brace as East Grinstead ran out 3-1 winners at Hailsham.
