Gary Smith wants his Worthing Thunder side to learn key lessons on Sussex's biggest basketball stage.
Thunder tackle Brighton Bears at the Brighton Centre on Sunday and coach Smith admits the score will not be of too much concern.
What he will hope to see is his side moving the ball around and all getting scoring chances.
Smith, whose side kick-off their Trophy campaign at home to old rivals Solent on Saturday, said: "I want to get our offence working in the same way as the Bears played against us last week.
"We won't be starting with an out and out centre this year.
"I'm hoping to get an offence working where everyone will get a touch and everyone will have good looks at the basket."
New American power forward Jamal Johnson is due to feature over the weekend, though Smith will use him sparingly if necessary.
Ultimately, Johnson is expected to start with Gaylon Moore, Davd Butterworth, Steven Gayle and point guard Daniel Hildreth.
Okolie Duro Ugbana is expected to re-join the club with Damon Harris, Marvin Addy, Sam Mead, Frenchman Ble Lacome and Irishman Kieran Burns among the prospective bench men.
Rani Malik (possibly to Thames Valley) and Nic O'Harabe have left the club and there is a doubt over James Brame's future.
