Crawley Town boss Francis Vines plans to sign a new player this week despite his side's comfortable 4-0 victory over Harlow Town.

Vines said: "I'm always looking to add to the side if the right player comes along who is better than we already have.

"It's just a shame we cannot borrow players on loan for a whole season like you can in the Conference and Football League. We are limited to three months.''

Vines' side successfully negotiated a potential banana skin on Saturday. They only had one fully-fit striker, Fabian Forde, against tricky Ryman League division one north opposition but Nigel Brake responded well to being handed a forward role by scoring two well-taken second half goals.

Justin Gregory opened the scoring in only the ninth minute with a brilliant piece of skill in his first start since rejoining the club over the summer before Ben Judge lobbed in off the bar from 40 yards to give Reds a two-goal cushion at the break.

Another summer singing, frontman Joff Vansittart, also made his first appearance, coming off the bench in place of defender Ian Payne to partner Forde up front, while Brake reverted to midfield and Gregory dropped to left-back.

Vines said: "I was happier with our performance because we scored a better percentage of our chances.

"We scored a few goals and it was good to see them coming from midfield.''

Vines was pleased with the displays of both Gregory and Vansittart, who have been sidelined by injury all season.

"Justin took his goal well and is a sharp little player. Joff also did well but is not fully fit yet."

Crawley's recent signing Karl Ready will miss the next fortnight due to a combination of a forthcoming one-match ban and a hamstring injury which forced him to leave the field after 18 minutes.

Eastbourne Borough face a Wednesday replay at Billericay after a 2-2 draw with visitors Chelmsford City.

Coach Nick Greenwood said: "We are very disappointed with the result because we don't really need extra matches at the moment.

"We gave away two soft goals but in the second half it was a proper Borough performance and we probably deserved to win it."

Chelmsford took the lead after ten minutes when Gary Cross made a good run and set up Dale Watkins, who volleyed home from close range.

Borough equalised on 38 minutes when Matt Crabb fired home from close range after keeper Paul Nicholls missed John Westcott's cross.

Three minutes later it was 2-1 to the visitors as Watkins returned a favour to Cross, who scored from 12 yards.

Borough dominated the second half and equalised in the 61st minute from the penalty spot after Scott Ramsay was fouled by Ian Wiles. Daren Pearce scored with the spot kick.
