When I came to Brighton more than five years ago, the Undercliffe path was open and I walked from Black Rock to Rottingdean two or three times a week and often returned on foot as well.
It is now well over two years since the cliff fell and we were assured it would be made safe and reopened to the public within 15 months. This has not happened.
What is more, there appears to be no work going on down there.
When can we expect this to be completed?
We are now faced with the prospect of Black Rock being developed. I agree this is long overdue but will it mean even further delays to our footpath?
We have a walks programme, we have volunteers trained to lead the walks and we have the walkers.
What we need now are the footpaths. The Undercliffe footpath should rank as number one priority. We have waited long enough.
