Albion expect to be without injured captain Danny Cullip for at least the next three League games.
Boss Steve Coppell revealed that his inspirational leader is likely to be sidelined for a minimum of a fortnight.
Cullip hobbled off with a calf injury in Saturday's 0-0 draw at Hartlepool. He was sore yesterday and has a scan today to determine the full extent of the damage.
Coppell, already without Simon Rodger, Charlie Oatway, Paul Watson, Ben Roberts and Dean Blackwell, hopes to have a new signing in for tomorrow night's trip to Rushden and Diamonds.
"In an ideal world I would get somebody in, but I can only get a loan player in," he said.
"I cannot guarantee, as I like to normally, that the loan player is going to play for a month, so I think managers might be a little bit defensive giving me players just to be part of the squad."
Referee Alan Butler has agreed to look again at a bizarre booking for Albion sub Dan Harding at Hartlepool. The youngster was cautioned after Coppell pushed him onto the pitch.
Coppell wanted to bring Harding on for Cullip. The Seagulls were down to ten men and defending a corner, but the linesman would not let Harding on. A seething Coppell took matters into his own hands by shoving Harding onto the pitch as the corner was being taken.
"Dan was waiting to go on and just before that the linesman said we need a captain's armband," Coppell explained.
"Unbeknown to us all the captain's armband had already been transferred to Richard Carpenter, which had actually been done by the referee.
"I had a situation then where my sub is ready to go on, he is being stopped from coming on and the ref had signalled for play to go on, which left us a man short at a critical stage.
"I pushed him on and then he was booked. I asked the referee to if he can review it and he was big enough to say he will, so we are in his hands. It did get a little bit heated, because I felt it was unfair."
A bemused Harding said: "In the back of my mind I thought the ref might send me back off again, so I was glad really just to get a yellow."
