The sister of a letting agent under investigation after his firm collapsed owing thousands of pounds said: "He has betrayed me."
Mother-of-three Yvonne Youngs told The Argus she faced being left homeless, penniless and on the brink of a nervous breakdown after Hove-based Youngs Owen flopped.
She said her brother Keith Youngs would only have himself to blame if police pressed charges following complaints from clients left out-of-pocket.
Ms Youngs, 41, said: "If they take action, they take action. I told him often enough. But he didn't listen to the warnings."
Mr Youngs set up the agency in Western Road, Hove, in January last year but financial problems forced him to suddenly shut up shop in April this year.
The Argus revealed ex-clients were claiming more than £60,000 in alleged debts.
The pair shared a home in Hove along with Ms Youngs' three children - a home which, until recently, she wrongly believed her brother owned.
Ms Youngs and her family are now being forced out of the house following a dispute between her brother and the property's real owner.
