Midhurst kept up the pressure on Worthing United at the top of division two with a 5-1 defeat of fifth placed Westfield.

The influential Lee Andrews scored the goal of the game and was also brought down for a penalty which Chris May converted.

Further goals came from James Glue, Robbie Pearce and substitute Derek Curwood while Duncan Jones hit a last minute consolation for the visitors.

Midhurst boss Tim Dummer said: "Once the second goal went in we were always in control."

Saltdean United went third after a 5-2 win at home to Crawley Down.

Liam O'Brien was the star of the show. He scored twice, set up the opener for Leigh Davis and was brought down for a penalty which Adam Burton converted.

An own goal completed the tally but Crawley Down made a game of it, twice equalising through Paul Otway and John Crumplin.

Tigers boss Mark Cox said: "It was a really tight game until we found another gear and scored two quick goals.

"Crawley Down are sixth for a reason. They are a strong side. We deserved to win but the margin probably flattered us a little."

Oakwood boss Mark Dunk described his side's draw at Lancing as a "0-0 hammering".

Dunk said: "We dominated throughout the whole 90 minutes and created 17 chances but we were let down by a culmination of bad luck and poor finishing.

"We totally destroyed them but the ball just wasn't going in.

"I just hope these results don't count against us at the end of the season."

Fourteen-year-old substitute Dean Lovegrove, son of chairman Stuart, was introduced for the last 15 minutes.

Dan Merry scored the only goal as Wealden won 1-0 at Seaford.

Merry, back in the side, finished off a flowing move involving Warren Levy and Leighton Allen in the 20th minute.

But Wealden made it hard work for themselves after the experienced Alan Dove was needlessly sent off with 20 minutes to go and they were grateful for a splendid late save from Graham Leach.

Broadbridge Heath won 2-1 at Wick thanks to Andy Howard and an own goal. All the goals came in the first half with Tony Miles replying for Wick.

In the Division Two Cup, Eastbourne United's Mark Warren scored four goals against Pease Pottage for the second time this season.

Warren hit four in a 7-1 win on the opening day of the season and he bagged another four as a weakened United side won 6-1 away on Saturday.

Scott McDonald and Mark Downey also netted with Gareth Neathey replying for an improved Pottage side.

United boss Dave Shearing said: "Mark hasn't played much. He was injured and has been to America. I think this was only his fourth game of the season.

"The new manager (Bob Pyle) seems to have given Pease Pottage more organisation and stability. We did a professional job."
