Martin Hinshelwood believes the Albion youth graduates involved in the 4-0 reverse at Brentford will bounce back.

Caretaker Seagulls boss Bob Booker included Chris McPhee, Adam Hinshelwood, Dan Harding and Dan Beck, along with experienced former centre of excellence defender Kerry Mayo, in the squad at Griffin Park, but they could do little to prevent the Bees handing out Albion's biggest defeat of the season.

But Hinshelwood, the club's Director of Football, said: "It is all a learning curve for the youngsters and what happened at Griffin Park was a big test of how they cope when things don't go so well.

"Some youngsters sail through matches because they have no fear. It is all above their head. I found that when I was manager last season.

"But I know the lads were disappointed against Brentford. My nephew Adam told me he was disappointed with his own personal performance.

"Not everything in football is rosey. If it was everyone could do it. Youth manager Dean (Wilkins) and myself have helped the young players prepare for when they are in the first team but you don't know how individuals will react to certain situations until they happen.

"Yet I feel sure the younger ones will come back stronger for the experience they went through."

McPhee and Hinshelwood were in the starting line-up with Mayo. Dan Beck replaced McPhee to make his first team debut late in the second half. Beck has just returned from a loan spell with Bognor.
