Bingo players could be in line for bigger prizes and cheaper tickets under new tax rules.
Following changes announced by Chancellor Gordon Brown in this year's budget, the taxman will now take a slice of clubs' profits instead of charging players through their stakes and winnings.
The Government estimates the changes will cut the tax burden on the industry by about £35 million a year.
About three million Britons play bingo more than twice a week.
