Although it is undoubtedly an amazing technical triumph for British Airways to carry Joan Collins and her increasingly thick layers of make-up on the last flight of Concorde, I fail to understand why I was supposed to be so excited and emotional about this.
Would someone be kind enough to tell me why we are meant to be thankful when billions of taxpayers' money is spent on subsidising people who are well able to afford the fare anyway?
It's enough to make John Major's cones hotline look value for money.
