Only Brightonians and their friends will be allowed at a future Big Beach Boutique, Norman Cook said last night.

The DJ, also known as Fatboy Slim, told Radio 1 DJ Annie Nightingale he would love to return to the coast for another concert but would insist on strict regulations being in place.

Norman famously held two free parties on Brighton beach in 2001 and 2002.

The success of the first, plus publicity from Radio 1, attracted 250,000 revellers to the pebbles last year and caused mayhem in the city and transport routes.

The DJ puffed on cigarettes as he answered queries from Annie and the floor at the session in the Honeyclub organised as part of One Live week.

When asked about the Big Beach Boutique, he said: "If we did it again, I would prefer it to be like the first rather than the second.

"It got a bit out of hand and it wasn't so much for the Brighton people.

"I would want it to be for the Brighton people and their friends rather than the world and his dog."
