I have just made a return visit to Brighton after 45 years and was thrilled to see how wonderful the large buildings along Hove and Brighton's seafront, Kingsway and Kings Road looked - all off-white with black iron balconies - very regal.

And what an achievement the Marina is. When I was last there it was just the Black Rock and the sea.

But what about the lovely Old Steine fountain? Why, oh why isn't it working?

I understand it has been dormant for a long time. In 1958 my friend and I stayed at the YMCA, Steine House and the fountain was beautifully illuminated at night.
