What is remarkable about the future of Brighton and Hove's council homes is that the numbers cited are plainly absurd.
To quote The Argus (October 21), £650 million needs spending on 13,000 properties - £50,000 per property.
However, my property requires no money at all spending on it and this applies to the majority of properties on my estate.
I also know that very desirable three-bedroom houses are being built in this area, fully equipped and with all services laid on for less than £80,000, which further underlines the absurdity of the council's estimate.
The council should stick to doing what it was created for - looking after the needs of its citizens.
It's in danger of selling out to so-called experts who, for a considerable fee, will lead you to believe vast sums have to be spent on bringing the housing stock up to standard.
