Crawley became only the third Sussex club to win the prestigious Priory cross-country relays at Reigate.
Ivan Luck set the team off to a good start finishing fifth on the tough opening leg clocking 13min. 50sec. for the testing two and a half mile course.
Dave Rayner had a steady second leg clocking 14min. 47sec. but holding his position while Paul Rodgers ran a brilliant third leg lifting Crawley into second place with a time of 13min. 13sec. which was to prove the fourth fastest of the day.
Joel Clewett slipped one place to third on the fourth leg clocking 14min. 33sec. but it was Kevin Holland who really did the damage for the Sussex club on the penultimate lap as he took the Crawley team into what ultimately proved to be a winning lead.
Holland clocked 13min. 18sec. and sent veteran Rob Creed off with the second team barely in sight.
Creed just managed to keep his nose in front clocking 14min. 13sec. and crossing the finishing line just four seconds clear of the Tonbridge team in 1hrs. 23min. 55sec.
Sussex runners Joe Foreshew from Chichester and Brighton and Hove's Paul Froud both returned with gongs after visits to Hampshire over the weekend.
Former English Schools cross-country international Foreshew dominated the Peter Driver 10km road race at Fleet winning in 33min. 55sec. Froud nearly made it a double for Sussex but lost out in a sprint finish to Tim Watson in the Denmead 10km road race in a time of 33min. 50sec.
