It was hectic, heaving and pumping with the dirtiest of tunes.
The sort of atmosphere where everyone gets frantic losing each other before being reunited again for a euphoric stomp.
Already a world-renowned DJ, Adam Freeland has now got together with two crazy Chileans, ex-Freakpower drummer Jim Carmichael, a rapper called Juice and diva Alison David to form this "real" live band, Free*Land, and it's a combo that works.
Still boasting Adam's smooth mixes and sample-based breaks, the band stormed with a full-on show packed with ear-tickling sound tricks, visually arresting projections from local VJs Plastic Reality and outspoken lyrics influenced by a fierce anti-capitalist stance.
Amid the talking robot heads and flickering lights it was two tracks in particular which got the crowd leaping ecstatically - or perhaps three if you include the nostalgic beat-happy rendition of Smells Like Teen Spirit.
The first, of course, was the belting anthem We Want Your Soul, which was Record of the Week on Sara Cox's show and with the help of a George Bush mask, got everyone in a frenzied delirium.
Then there was the final tune of the set - the glorious cover of Ben E King song Supernatural Thing which manipulates David's soul-etched vocals to manoeuvre from a seductive whisper to a full-blown guitar-rattling roar.
Due out any day now, this is a single to watch for.
