It is council policy not to fly any flags from civic buildings in Brighton and Hove.
And yet Dion Mills (Letters, October 30) complains on behalf of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) community that the council's refusal to fly the rainbow flag has been seen by many people as a "lack of understanding of this community".
On one hand the LGBT demand equality and on the other, preferential treatment. You can't have it both ways.
